I wish my famliy members would just give me cookies for Christmas...

I know most people will think this is more work, but every year I make presents for my family members and a few friends who've been really good to me throughout the year. I'd be knitting anyway, and my family really appreciates getting something that I've spent time making. It wouldn't work if I had a bunch of kids on my list, but everyone in my family can buy the things they really need and want. I started doing this the year after grad school, when I had more time than money, and I've kept doing it because I keep getting compliments on the things that I've made for them.
